Saving: My emergency fund! A couple weeks ago I had some car trouble that wiped out most of my e-fund. My lovingly assembled Baby Step One fund! I’m trying not to let it get to me, and I’m trying to remind myself that this is what emergency funds are for. But now I have to pause my debt snowball for a bit while I rebuild.
Watching: Victoria, Season 1 on Amazon Prime. Ordinarily I’m not a fan of period dramas, but this show got tons of great reviews. I’m so fascinated by the relationship between Victoria and the other women in her life, particularly as she navigates a world dominated by men.
Reading: Tana French‘s entire oeuvre. I started getting into mysteries after I dropped out of grad school. I had this unfair predisposition toward mystery, assuming that the writing would be terrible. But I love getting totally engrossed in the plots and trying to guess along with the characters! It’s been a long time since I stayed up way too late reading, but French’s books do that to me every time! Her novels are surprisingly lyrical while maintaining a classic hard-boiled vibe. I just finished The Trespasser, and I’m starting on Broken Harbor tonight. Her work makes me want to move to Dublin! And of course, I get the books from my local library because No New Books.
Doing: Pilates! I’m a YMCA member, so I have unlimited access to classes at my local club. It also only costs me $29 per month, and it its fantastic stress relief.
